Futurebuild Australia 2026: Exploring Building Innovation for Future ANS Design Project

By Adam Murphy, Principal Building Designer — ANS Design

Adam Murphy of ANS Design attended Futurebuild Australia 2026 at the International Convention Centre Sydney

Futurebuild Australia was held at ICC Sydney from 11 to 13 June 2026 as part of Design & Build Week. The exhibition brought together building designers, architects, builders, developers, suppliers and industry specialists to explore new products, construction systems and emerging technologies for the built environment.

Keeping Up to Date with Building Products and Design Solutions

Residential building design is not only about preparing plans for council approval or construction. It also involves understanding the products, materials and building systems available to help achieve practical, durable and visually considered outcomes.

Futurebuild Australia provided an opportunity to review a broad range of products and solutions relevant to residential projects, including:

  • Advanced and sustainable building materials
  • Architectural building products
  • Wall, cladding and façade systems
  • Roofing and weatherproofing products
  • Insulation and energy-efficiency solutions
  • Fire-protection systems
  • Modular and prefabricated construction methods
  • Interior products and finishes
  • Emerging building technologies

The official exhibitor directory featured more than 150 suppliers showcasing building materials, products and technologies.

Speaking Directly with Industry Suppliers

One of the most valuable aspects of attending an industry exhibition is the opportunity to speak directly with product manufacturers, suppliers and technical representatives.

These discussions can provide practical information that may not always be obvious from a brochure or website, such as suitable applications, installation requirements, maintenance considerations, product limitations and compatibility with different construction methods.

This helps ANS Design remain informed when discussing design options with clients and coordinating residential building projects.

Sustainability and High-Performance Building Design

Sustainability continues to influence the way homes are designed, documented and constructed.

Futurebuild Australia focused on the materials, systems and technologies shaping the future of building, with an emphasis on smarter, faster and more sustainable construction. The 2026 event also included more than 60 educational sessions and opportunities to earn continuing professional development points.

For residential projects, this may include considering:

  • Improved thermal performance
  • Energy-efficient design decisions
  • Durable and low-maintenance materials
  • Products that support improved comfort
  • Construction systems that reduce unnecessary waste
  • Practical solutions suited to each site, budget and project scope

Not every new product will suit every project. The key is understanding the available options and identifying solutions that can provide genuine value for homeowners.

Applying Industry Knowledge to Residential Building Design

Attending industry events such as Futurebuild Australia supports the ongoing professional development of ANS Design.

The knowledge gained can help inform future residential design projects, including:

  • Alterations and additions
  • New homes
  • Secondary dwellings and granny flats
  • Carports, decks and outdoor living areas
  • Development Application documentation
  • Complying Development Certificate documentation
  • Construction Certificate documentation
  • Early design advice and project planning

For homeowners, this means design advice that considers current building products, emerging technologies and practical construction outcomes.

Continuing Professional Development at ANS Design

ANS Design is committed to keeping up to date with changes and improvements across the residential building industry.

By attending exhibitions, seminars and professional development events, Adam Murphy continues to review new products, design approaches and technical information that may improve the quality, sustainability and long-term performance of future projects.
